Discovery of the Alsace Wine Route: Taste in complete freedom with a Private Driver

Stretching over more than 170 kilometres from north to south, the Alsace Wine Route is one of the most beautiful in France. Its picturesque villages, fortified castles and of course, its grands crus (Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris) attract visitors from all over the world.

But to take full advantage of this oenological experience, a dilemma quickly arises: how to do a series of tastings at the winegrowers while driving? The answer is simple: don’t drive. Let VTC Strasbourg DMD be your “Road Captain” for an unforgettable day in the heart of the vineyards.

1. Zero Constraints: The Privilege of Not Driving

In France, the blood alcohol limit is strict. One or two tastings can be enough to put you in violation, not to mention the risk to your safety on the small winding roads of the Vosges.

By renting a chauffeur-driven vehicle (VTC) from Strasbourg, you give yourself peace of mind:

  • Absolute security: You can taste the wines offered by the winegrowers without a second thought.
  • Comfort: Between two villages, rest in an air-conditioned and connected sedan.
  • Flexibility: Unlike tourist buses that have fixed schedules, here you decide how much time you spend at each stage.

2. Create your tailor-made itinerary

You don’t know the region? Our local expert drivers can suggest the must-see stops. Already have your list? We follow your program to the letter.

The star stages 45 minutes from Strasbourg:

  • Obernai : The medieval city not to be missed.
  • Riquewihr & Kaysersberg : Often voted “Favourite Villages of the French”, they are architectural gems.
  • Colmar : The “Little Venice”, ideal for a gourmet lunch break.
  • Castle of Haut-Kœnigsbourg: For a cultural and historical break with a breathtaking view of the plain.

3. The “Chest” argument: Fill your cellar!

It’s a detail that we don’t think about enough: the transport of the bottles.

If you visit the region by train or bus, it is impossible to buy more than one or two bottles or your return will turn into an ordeal. With VTC Strasbourg DMD, you have a spacious trunk (especially in our Vans).

Did you fall in love with a Vendanges Tardives ? Buy one or two boxes. Your driver loads them up, and drops them off directly in front of your door or hotel in the evening.

4. Ideal for small groups (Mercedes V-Class Van)

The Wine Route is an experience that is shared. With friends, as a couple of friends or with family, the atmosphere is always better with others.

Our Premium Vans can accommodate up to 7 passengers in a face-to-face lounge.

  • Divide the cost of the driver by 7: the experience becomes very affordable.
  • No need to take 2 cars and get lost on the way.
  • Everyone enjoys the party (no one is designated as a driver).

5. How to book your sightseeing tour?

We generally offer half-day (4 hours) or full-day ( 8 or 10 hours) delivery packages.

When you make your reservation:

  1. Indicate your pick-up location in Strasbourg.
  2. Specify the number of passengers.
  3. Tell us if you have a specific itinerary or if you want to “let yourself be guided” to the main villages.

FAQ: Visit Alsace by VTC

Can the driver advise us on winemakers?

Yes, our drivers know the area well. Although we are not certified tour guides, we can direct you to reputable villages and welcoming estates.

Can we have lunch at a restaurant on the road?

Absolutely. This is the advantage of “Provision”. The driver drops you off in front of the restaurant of your choice (in Riquewihr or Colmar for example) and waits for you during your meal. Time is deducted from your day pass.

What is the price for a full day?

The price depends on the vehicle and the duration. Contact us for a precise quote “Wine Route Package”. This is often more economical than paying for several separate taxi rides.
